About the exam

What is an immigration medical exam?

The immigration medical exam is required by USCIS for persons seeking to become residents of the United States. The exam helps determine that individuals are healthy, free of certain contagious diseases, and up to date on required vaccinations.

Medical History Review
Your physical and mental health history, active and prior conditions will be reviewed thoroughly with the physician.
Vaccination / Immunization Review
Your vaccination records are reviewed to determine what is current and whether any additional vaccines are required.
Physical Examination
Head-to-toe exam covering eyes, ears, nose & throat, heart, lungs, abdomen, skin, lymph nodes, arms and legs.
Mental Health Evaluation
An assessment of judgement, intelligence, comprehension, thought process, affect, behaviour and mood.
Labs & Testing
Blood titers if immunization status is unclear, STI screening (gonorrhoea & syphilis), and TB testing via blood draw for all applicants over age 2.
I-693 Completion & Sealing
Upon completion, the I-693 form is signed, sealed, and returned to you in a sealed envelope for USCIS submission.
